Who should not take Albenza?
Before taking Albenza tell your doctor about any other medical conditions that you have especially liver disease. You may require a lower dose or special monitoring during therapy if you have liver problems.
Albenza is in the FDA pregnancy category C. This means that it is not known whether it will harm an unborn baby. Do not take Albenza without first talking to your doctor if you are pregnant. Pregnancy should also be avoided for at least 1 month following therapy with Albenza.

How should I take Albenza?

What happens if I miss a dose?
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. However if it is almost time for your next dose skip the dose you missed and take only your next regularly scheduled dose. Do not take a double dose of this medication.

What other drugs will affect Albenza?
Before taking this medication tell your doctor if you are taking
dexamethasone (Decadron Hexadrol)
praziquantel (Biltricide) or
cimetidine (Tagamet Tagamet HB).
These medicines may increase the level of Albenza in your body. Your doctor will want to monitor drug interactions and make adjustments in dosage.
